Acid Reflux In Women

I can't believe I let this get to me...?
You know, here lately there has been a LOT of questions on here about formula and breastfeeding.
I honestly don't think some Mothers realize how easy it is to hurt some Mothers feelings. I tried SO HARD to breastfeed my Daughter. I remember sitting on the bed trying to feed her and her screaming her head off. I gave in and gave her formula, my poor baby was starving. It broke my heart. Then she gets Acid Reflux and I beat myself up telling myself that if I would've just produced enough milk and breastfed, she wouldn't have it. I know that's not true though. I looked at one question and this woman had answered saying that formula feeders must not know what's in formula.
Tears are rolling down my face right now because I feel like I cheated my Daughter. She's healthy (her Acid Reflux is actually under control- thank goodness), happy, and growing like a weed. I just love her so much and wish I could've breast fed. Do some women not take people's feelings in consideration?
Some people are real jack-a$$es. When a mother posts a question about her baby on here, it's not for fun it's because she really wants some help and understanding.
When people are judgemental and criticise someone's parenting skills it is just unfair and vicious.
My son has acid reflux, I breast fed him for the first 3 months but in the end I had to switch him to formula to help get his reflux under control. So, it really isn't true that he wouldn't have got it if you kept breastfeeding, coz mine did!
Your baby is loved, cared for, fed, happy and healthy. THAT is what makes a great mother, not how long she kept up breastfeeding. Please don't feel bad or guilty, you did what was best for your little girl.
As for those people who carry on and make formula feeding mums feel bad - they really need to wise up and realise they are hurtful people, there is far more to being a great parent than breastfeeding, and they aren't always right.
There are a lot of mums on here who are breast-feeding advocates, but they don't cram it down everyone's throat or make people feel bad for formula feeding. Please don't let the few judgemental ones put you off asking for advice - there's a lot of us good ones out there who are happy to help.
You're a GREAT mum!!!!
All You Need to Know About Pregnancy and Acid Reflux
Pregnancy and acid reflux or heartburn are two things that seem to go hand in hand for many women that are going through this troublesome time of their life.
It has been reported that as many as eighty percent of women have this condition or symptoms associated to it while they are in the gestation period and learning how to cure or relieve the symptoms is a good thing for an expectant mother to know about.
Many women who tend to notice that pregnancy and acid reflux are a common factor may never have had the symptoms of this condition before and for someone that is not used to indications such as these, can be rather frightening. There are a number of ways in which this condition can be described but the following are common descriptions:
• A burning sensation in the chest
• Warmth within the whole of the inside of the upper body area
• Tightness of the chest
These sensations can be caused by a great many factors but it is believed that the increased levels of hormone within the body could be one of the most contributing factors to pregnancy and acid reflux.
The LES valve that is meant to keep the acid in the stomach while still letting food in can be softened or weakened with the excesses of hormones and this could be one of the reasons as to why women may experience this.
There are a number of things that can be done to avoid pregnancy and acid reflux coming together and some of them are more based on common sense while others may be things that most pregnant women do not normally think about. These could be:
• Avoiding caffeinated and fizzy drinks and also food products that contain caffeine.
• Avoiding alcohol, which should be done during pregnancy anyway.
• Check out the foods that are known to trigger pregnancy and acid reflux combining and trying to eliminate these from the diet where possible. These could include chocolate, tomatoes and tomato products, fruits that are known to be citrus varieties and also foods that are high with acidity levels.
• Eat smaller and more frequent meals rather than larger portions just three times per day.
• Chew slowly and do not try and rush through any of the meals.
• Drink plenty of water throughout the day - 6 to 8 glasses is advised and more if you can manage it.
