Heartburn Allergic Reaction
Is my daughter allergic to Red 40?
Is this possible? We have been having issues with my 7 year old, one of them being major heartburn/reflux issues. I have somewhat narrowed Red 40 to be a major cause of it. She gets heartburn very badly when she eats it, and when on Prevacid she still gets a light heartburn from it. What does this mean exactly? Is she allergic to it? Is that an allergic reaction? Or something else?
I found my answer somewhere online. Apparently her craziness emotionally lately can be a sign of that as well....interesting! But also, I guess, it is considered an intolerance...not an allergy. Any more infor you have I would love to hear..
It is a dye, just an added coloring that they put in foods. Is in almost ALL koolaids, fruit snacks, dorritos, almost anything that is a reddish color, and sometimes colors that you wouldn't think (like grape or blue koolaid)
I am familiar with allergies. She actually has 5 other food allergies...so it will just be another thing to look out for.
