Heartburn And Gastroenteritis

How can you tell if gastroenteritis is gone?

I've had gastroenteritis for about 6 days now, and I had absolutely no appetite and I felt naseous and I had terrible heart burn. I had a little bit of diarrhea for the first, maybe about 3 days. I felt terrible and light headed, like I was going to faint. I went to the doctor on Friday, and they diagnosed me with either acid reflux or gastroenteritis. They then gave me Prilosec for the heartburn. It has helped the heartburn, and I feel alot better and I have my appetite back, and I'm not naseous. So I'm wondering if I'll be safe to go to school tomorrow? Thanks!

No vomiting, diarrhea of fever for 24 hours? You are basically over it, 48 hours before going to school to be safe. Be sure to wash you hands! You do not want to make anyone else sick!

When Should You Take Prilosec?

Gastroenteritis is the inflammation of the gastrointestinal tract which can be initiated by a virus infection, especially in children. Gastroenteritis can also be caused by bacteria strains, as in cases of foodbourne illnesses from improperly cooked meat and seafood, as well as from bakery and dairy products.  Gastroenteritis, known as Gastro, usually is accompanied by stomach pains or spasms.  Gastro can also result in a burning sensation in our esopghagus which is the result of excess acid in our stomach.

Prilosec contains the chemical Omeprazole, which is a proton pump inhibitor that is been successful in the treatment of ulcers, heartburn and gastroesphageal reflux, commonly referred to as GERD.  Prilosec is considered the most powerful acid secretion inhibitor on the market today.  In 1990, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration approved Prilosec as an effective treatment in the reduction of stomach acid.  Prilosec Generic has also been successful in the treatment of certain types of ulcers.
