Heartburn Caused By Bacteria
Anyone know much about stomach problems?
I've been having mild upper abdominal pains and very bad gas. I tried taking a ten day regimin of pepto bismol (admittedly by my own prescription) hoping that it might kill off bad bacteria that could be causing the smelly gas. When I went off it I felt a little constipated for a few days, understandable, then I had a couple of days of diahrea. I thought that was ok because I thought maybe my system was just cleaning itself out. the diahrea is gone now, but I've been having mild upset stomach and now some heartburn, neither of which I tended to suffer from before. Could I have caused some problems by taking the Pepto Bismol for so long?
The pepto bismol thing should not be the problem, but it did not help you eider . As a naturist, I will suggest few things.
First, you have to put back the friendly bacteria from your intestines. For that, you need to take probiotic.(Any vitamin store has that. The best one is the one from the refrigerator.
Take it before every meal. his will take care of gas too. To calm your stomach, drink Aloe Vera juice, believe me, you cannot go wrong with that.
Apple cider vinegar(organic), after meals, this is for hearth burns. If you do not like the taste of apple cider, go for the pills. If you will do this, you should be fine in less then a week, unless you have other complication which I don't think so.
Ginger, mint tea, its very good as well. Good luck!!
Is There A Simple Heartburn Cure?
Over 95 million Americans complain of some kind of digestive problem. The Mayo clinic reports that over 60 million Americans have heartburn at least once a month; 15 million Americans have heartburn daily; and 65% of people with heartburn have symptoms day and night. Treating heartburn and other gastrointestinal diseases has become an industry unto itself, more than $20 billion dollars is spent annually on these issues. And the problem doesn't go away. 75% of folks taking conventional treatments for digestive disorders still have their symptoms. Does a heartburn cure even exist?
Imagine what it would be like if you had the money you spent on your digestive ailments to spend on something else. Annually, that could end up being quite a tidy sum of money you can save. Do the math. Using conventional means to treat your heartburn does not cure it. And the fallout from continuing to use these heartburn "maskers" are compounded and can result in some ill effects for your body overall.
The Downfall of Prescribed Medicines
Proton pump inhibitors (PPIs) like Prevacid and Nexium are designed to reduce the amount of hydrochloric acid in your stomach, thus to reduce your heartburn symptoms. But when this happens, the balance of the "good" bacteria in your intestinal tract is sent packing and the "bad" bacteria is now in charge. Acid Reducers kill the probiotics (the good bacteria) in your stomach. And it doesn't stop there. Hydrochloric acid in your stomach more than digests food, it also acts as a protective barrier for your body. On any given day we all ingest food (and other organisms without our knowledge) that have the potential to make us sick or even kill us.
Our gastric acids typically destroy these dangerous viruses, bacteria, and pathogen before they can cause us harm. But when that balance is upset or the stomach acid is reduced or stopped altogether, the protective barrier is removed and now your entire digestive system is subject to invasion. With only the bad bacteria living in your body you have a great chance of getting really sick. Continued used of those proton pump inhibitors (PPI) also reduces the ability of your bones to absorb calcium. Long term use of PPI's ends up with a 44% greater risk of hip fractures.
The Final Danger of using acid reducers is simple: it stops digestion altogether. What this means is your food just sits there. Since your body is very intelligent, in sensing the problem, it kicks up acid production to aid in food digestion, and then the PPI stops it. This vicious cycle ends up blowing you up like a balloon, gives you gas, causes cramping, constipation and diarrhea. That's why you'll find these symptoms located on the side of one of these heartburn maskers. Is there a simple heartburn cure that pharmaceutical companies (who are becoming rich on your pain) don't want you to know about?
Food Combining
Yes there is. It's called food combining. There are foods that cause acid and there are foods that are alkaline based. The trick is to learn what to eat, when to eat it, and what not to eat with it. It doesn't mean you can't eat your favorite foods. Once you get your system back in balance and train yourself to combine foods that are beneficial, you'll be able to eat your favorite foods again, in smaller portions while not combining them with other things.
