Heartburn Fluoxetine

can fluoxetine capsules 20mg cause heartburn?
Hi, i have been suffering from depression and have been described these, and ive been taking one in the morning for ten days now and for the last few days i have been swallowing with a glass of water and it feels like its stuck in my throat and i also get heartburn for a couple of hours, is this a side effect that should wear off? Also been tired but i know this is a normal side effect. Any ideas on how i can prevent this?
I used to get that when I took them, and it IS a common side-effect. It got better after a while, but I always had a bit of it.
One of the most severe psychiatric disorders is the bipolar disorder. This is a condition of alternating periods of high creativity and energy, mania and depression with varying degrees of severity.
It is very expensive to treat. The treatment consists in a combination of anti-anxiety, mood stabilizers and antidepressant drugs. The first medicine prescribed to treat bipolar disorder and to control mania is Lithium (lithium carbonate). This drug is non-addictive but it is toxic. Patients taking Lithium must make regular blood tests to monitor the toxicity.
There are many other drugs that can replace Lithium, like the anti-convulsants Clonazepram (Klonopin, Rivotril), Divalproex Sodium (Depakote) or Carbamazepine (Tegretol).
Let us talk about Klonopin. You should tell your doctor your medical history, especially of liver disease, kidney disease, glaucoma, lung disease, breathing disorders and of any allergies you may have. Klonopin can interact with cimetidine, disulfram, narcotic pain relivers, sedatives and some antidepressants (nefazodone, fluoxetine). Limit alcohol intake while taking this medication because excessive drowsiness may occur.
Like any other drug, treatment with Klonopin involves side effects such as:
- weakness, indigestion, drowsiness, change in appetite, headache, nausea, dizziness;
- excessive hair growth or loss of hair, mood changes, blurred vision, sleeplessness, dry mouth, muscle pain and weight changes.
Notify your doctor if you develop double vision, unusual eye movements, severe weakness, increased salivation, hallucinations, loss of coordination, a rapid or pounding heartbeat or difficulty speaking.
Do not start or stop Klonopin without doctor approval.
It is important to look out for any potential bipolar disorder signs before they get out of hand. It is a lifelong illness, but it does not have to be a struggle.
