The sphincter muscle (stomach valve), acts like a gate which opens to let food in, and closes to prevent acid stomach from backing up. When acid reflux occurs regularly it can be an indication of improper valve function. However, most of the time, acid reflux is due to heartburn food, and keeping a diary of food that triggers stomach acid will undeniably reduce heartburn symptoms.

So, just underneath, are the most common heartburn foods known to trigger acid reflux.

1. Coffee and products derived from caffeine.
If you are having heartburn problems when drinking coffee, chances are, the effect of caffeine attenuates the function of your stomach valve. The best remedy is eliminating coffee from your diet in order to keep your stomach valve tightly shut.

2. Salt
For many people, adding extra salt to a meal can cause a negative burning reaction that could last for minutes and even hours.

3. Fatty foods
Fatty foods tend to linger in the stomach and cause indigestion problems. The fatty residues left indigested accumulates in your body causing weight problems. Ideally, you should maintain a healthy body weight, this means eliminating fatty foods from your diet.

4. Garlic and Onions
Some people may get heartburn when eating fresh shop onions in their salads. Eaten cooked or uncooked, garlic or onions, can trigger acid reflux. However, for others, it can actually get rid of your digestive problems.

5. Chocolate
Don't need to explain much further the feeling of eating chocolate. Unfortunately, chocolate is bad for your skin and internal body system. Chocolate contains too much sugar and caffeine, which can trigger acid reflux by relaxing the stomach valve.
