Heartburn Gum

Stopping smoking question?
It's been about 3 weeks since I quit smoking and I've gotten over the worst of the withdrawal. I'm still getting a few tummy aches, but I'm not thinking about the cigarettes so much now.
Trouble is, I feel so depressed and irritable now. I just feel so horrible!
About how long before this wears off? I was using the nicorette inhalator to replace the nicotine, but I'm reluctant to keep using it as I want to kick the nicotine addiction as soon as possible. I can't use patches or gum as they give me heartburn and chest pain.
Should I go back to my inhalator?
Each person is different, my advice is bin the inhalator and go cold turkey now. You'll go through a mad couple of weeks and then calm. It is the nicotine that makes you edgy, but withdrawal will make you edgy too. Just remember that when you're completely clean, you'll be a much calmer, happier person.
Heartburn Relief
Heartburn is a serious health condition for many people, and for a lot of us finding heartburn relief is one the prime goals in our life. People living heartburn free might not understand this obsession but it is, if you will forgive the pun, a ‘burning' desire that you get rid of your heartburn as soon as possible.
There are many ways to finding your own special brand of heartburn relief, and they run the gamut from over-the-counter drugs, to natural remedies, to prescription drugs.
Then there is always the tried and true method of diet control.
For quick heartburn relief a glass of low fat milk is ideal, especially if you're just after a meal. If you're on the go and haven't got any medication handy, a stick of chewing gum will also go a long way to relieving your distress. The alkaline the saliva produces by the chewing process will fight back the stomach acids rising in your gullet.
Physicians also recommend that you stay on the move when you suffer from an attack. Standing, walking, or light exercise will all aid you in finding heartburn relief. Sitting, or even lying down is a big no, no, as this will merely give your stomach acids easier access to your esophagus, causing you greater heartburn.
If you're going for the over-the-counter variety of relief offered, there are many to choose from. Most of these are antacids, and will counter your rising acidity levels. Products such as Tums, Pepcid, and Zantac are all very well known and do tend to work most of the time. However, if you're going for this type of heartburn relief it is always a good thing to consult your physician first. They will be able to advise you better on which type of heartburn relief aids you should be taking.
There are some Herbal heartburn remedies that have been known and used for quite some time now. The three most commonly used herbal remedies are chamomile, which is botanically known as Matricaria Recutita. Peppermint which is also botanically known as Mentha Piperita and Ginger that is botanically known as Zingiber Officinale.
These three herbal heartburn remedies fall into a group of herbs that are described by the General Nutrition Center as "carminative". They all have the ability to relieve indigestion and ease irritation that occurs in the intestines. The herb chamomile is traditionally recognized for its calming properties. As chamomile has a high calcium content it has the ability to decrease stomach acid. Therefore chamomile is thought to help ease esophageal irritation and help with proper digestion.
If you're the adventurous type, a more natural method of heartburn relief can be to take one teaspoon of apple cider vinegar. This supposedly relieves you of you heartburn within minutes. Caution is advised however when taking home remedies such as this.
For any remedy that you take there can be side effects, so you really do need to be careful when reaching for that handy new relief that someone just told you about. Again, it's always a god idea to talk things over with your physician. Being careful will keep you fit and healthy, and living for a long time with no need to reach for that bottle of ‘heartburn relief'.
