Heartburn Overeating

Meat Just Doesn't Agree With My Body?
I come from a big meat eating family, so every day, breakfast, lunch, and dinner, I can expect there is probably going to be some kind of meat incorporated in there.
For the longest time, after I eat I always feel so bogged down and drained of my energy (and no, I don't overeat). I can't really see other foods being the cause (such as noodles or fruit or bread or something).
Then just this past year, I've been getting really bad heartburn and I noticed every time I ate pepperoni pizza is when it happened.
I'm starting to think that meat doesn't agree with my body.
Should I become vegetarian? How should I start (I fear this won't be easy for me!)?
I just want to be healthy and feel good.
I don't believe in pills, unless it's something very serious.
If you don't feel vegetarianism is for you, try cutting back on the amount of meat you eat. Don't have it at every meal. Use it as a condiment instead of a main dish. If you eat pasta, go for whole wheat pasta; it takes getting used to the texture, but it's less likely to make you feel bogged down. Eat brown rice instead of white rice whenever possible.
If eating less meat, more vegetables, more fruits, and more grains makes you feel better, cut back on your meat consumption a little more. It's perfectly okay to experiment with your diet until you find what works for you.
If you like the taste and texture, there are plenty of meat analogues out there, many in your local grocery store. You can have a veggie burger instead of a meat burger. There are veggie sausages and veggie dogs.
And chances are, the heartburn you get after eating pepperoni pizza is the spices in the pepperoni, not the meat itself. When I was an omni, pepperoni pizza made me horribly thirsty. Get pizza with lots of veggies (even cheeseless), and see how that makes you feel.
Good luck!
