Heartburn Too Much Water
Am I expecting too much of my husband?
I am 8 mos. pregnant and I just want a little more help. Last night I asked my husband to get me a glass of water, and he refused to get out of bed. A couple of weeks ago I asked him to get me some tums because I had terrible heartburn and once again he didn't want to get out of bed and walk over to the dresser. This entire pregnancy I haven't asked to do much more than this. I understand that he's tired but so am I and it's so much easier for him to roll out of bed than for me to. Honestly I've only asked him to get out of bed to get me something a couple of times and when I ask him he's not even asleep yet! He is a good husband, he supports me emotionally. Am I expecting too much? Do other husbands mind doing these things for their wives? How do I get him to understand it makes me feel kinda bad when he whines and refuses to do these little things for me?
you need to explain to him how bad it does make you feel that he won't do these things for you. My ex was very on and off about being there for me and being great about things during my pregnancy. Some times, he would bring me milk and make me lay down with a pillow on my thighs to read to the baby and bring me anything i wanted and even go to the store at midnight for craving stuff. Other times he couldnt be bothered to put down his beer and help me out of our wayyyy to high bed (im very short and it was very high and i had to stand on something to get into bed!) and he would get angry with me for asking little things of him. even when i was asking him to go out in the middle of the night, i didn't feel i was asking too much of him, because i was the one carrying the baby around 24/7 for 40 weeks and i didn't ask him to do everything for me, just sometimes made some requests that put him out a little.
You need to just sit him down, not right after it happens, but at a neutral time and explain to him how much you are going through, physically, mentally, and emotionally, and tell him that it hurts you he cant do these very small things for you, when alot of women ask alot more of their husbands during pregnancy. you also need to explain to him that the first couple weeks (at least a week, at least!) after having the baby, you will need alot of help with the baby so your body can try to recover some and if he cant get you some tums, you worry how he will take getting up with the baby at night to change a diaper. (okay, so maybe you aren't at all worried about this, this is just how i'd feel i guess)..
but no, i dont think your asking too much of him. i dont think your asking much at all. I'm sure he's not a bad husband, he probably just doesn't understand all your going through and just how uncomfortable being 8 months preg is. Get him to strap a couple bags of flour to his stomach and carry it around for 24 hours, maybe he'll understand more!
Goodluck hunny.
Is her husband on here now, or did she want to hear that YES , she is asking too much of him and is a bad wife for it? cause everyone who said- no, your not asking too much got a thumbs down answer.. hmm
