What is wrong with my friend, she has more heartburns lately and is losing too much weight. What's wrong?

She has shortness of breath when working out too hard, (like walking up a hill), lost too much weight. She has heartburns more than she has ever had them and has this sudden loss of appetite. Almost a year ago she was 120 lbs. Then she returned to her normal weight of 110. She is 15 years old and now weighs 99 lbs. My friend needs help, no joke.

^The first thing she should do is go to her doctor and have a complete physical.

She may be anorexic, or bulimic, both of these are eating disorders. When she's with you does she eat or just push her food around, she might be anorexic. Does she go to the bathroom right after she eats all the time, she might be throwing up that's bulimia. Some people have both disorders. Either way she needs more help than you can give her, and her parents should know. Your a good friend, but she might need to see a professional , talk to her about getting help. Emotions have a great deal to do with weight gain as many people (more likely women but not exclusively) eat more when they feel depressed, unwanted or unloved. It is nonsense to believe that continued eating and weight gain will not have serious consequences to your health as we now see in the increase of conditions like type 2 diabetes, heart conditions and cancer. Excess weight can be removed with many easy weight loss methods available today but unless the subject is prepared to change their ways, dieting on its own will never be the answer.

The success of a weight loss program also relies on the mental attitude of the person involved so if they stay happy and do not get stressed they will more likely lose the weight they desire. The one thing that has shown to be true no matter what you do in life is that being positive about something is more likely to make it happen. Losing weight is known to provide us with more energy and allows us to carry out tasks that those extra pounds do not permit, which can all lead to improved self confidence.

Once the effects of an easy weight loss program are felt by the dieter, they feel more positive about the future and realize the result they want to achieve is possible. This will start the momentum to a new and exciting you!
