Severe Heartburn And Vomiting
Nexium and Pregnancy?
I am 31 weeks pregnant and have been put on Nexium by my OBGYN about 5 months ago. At first it really helped the "Acid Reflux" (my doc's dx) and vomiting and pain I was having, but now that I am further along, I am having nausea and somach pain again - though not as severe and no vomiting. My question is, could the Nexium be masking normal pregnancy heartburn, but not eliminating it all together causing this discomfort? The discomfort recently started about 4 weeks ago, about when heartburn started in my last pregnancy.
I never took Nexium but my first pregnancy my doctor put me on Protonix for heartburn. It was wonderful and I took it throughout my pregnancy. My son is about to turn 5 now and he has always been smart and healthy as can be.
I started to take the protonix again at 16 weeks with my second one against another OBGYN advice. It is helping once again. I get some nausea after I eat but nothing that I can't handle.
