Heart burn is a burning sensation in the chest. It can be experienced more when a person is lying or is in a bending position. Occasional heartburn may not be a very serious but frequent heartburn occurrences can be very serious and requires doctor consultation.

Burning sensation in the chest that is generally after eating that may last from several minutes to few hours.

1. Maintaining proper weight
2. Avoid tight fitting clothes
3. Avoid larger meals, try to opt for smaller meals because a full stomach can put extra pressure on the lower esophageal sphincter
4. Stop smoking and drinking alcohol
5. Avoid going to bed immediately after meals. Maintain a gap of at least 2-3 hours between meals and sleeping
6. If you are overweight, try to shed some pounds by doing regular exercises and maintaining healthy eating and lifestyle habits.
