Why Do People Get Heartburn
What does heartburn feel like?
I'm pregnant and supposedly I can expect to get heartburn later. I've never felt it before, though I have had acid reflux upon occasion.
What does it feel like? Why do people sometimes mistake it for a heart attack?

It can feel like a variety of things... a burning feeling in the chest behind the breastbone... sometimes severe chest pain, especially after bending over, lying down or eating... burning in the throat, etc.
People sometimes mistake it for a heart attack because the pain can be sharp and constant below the breastbone lasting up to several hours, which is also a sign of a heart attack!
